What is a contact centre?
A place where a parent/relative can meet the child(ren) that he/she wishes to see.
Contact centres are child-centred and provide an impartial and independent service. They do not provide supervised contact and therefore do not provide reports on the quality of contact between parents and children.
Contact centre services are available to all   families regardless of creed, ethnic origin, and financial or other circumstances of disadvantage.

The Contact Centre is managed by St. Mary's Family Support Project

What can it do for me?
As an adult seeking contact: The contact centre is there to provide a place where you can meet your child(ren).
As a child: The contact centre is there to provide a place where you can meet the adult.
As the resident adult: The contact centre is there to provide a place where you can drop off and pick up your child for the other party.
How can I get a place?
Most families are referred to the centre via the courts. Your solicitor will contact the Contact Centre Administrator to organize suitable dates and times. A referral form has to be completed before contact can go ahead.
What is a referral form?
A referral form has to be filled in by the two parties' solicitors. It contains information that is required for contact to go ahead.  There is no cost for this service, but we do ask for a donation to the Contact Centre, as we are a volunteer project.
No referral form means no contact. It is in your best interest to get the form returned as soon as possible.
If there are any problems, contact the Contact Centre Administrator.
What are the operational hours?
The centre is open on a Saturday from 10am til 4pm.
Can someone else be admitted to the contact?
If both parties are agreeable a third party may be allowed to sit in the contact centre during contact. Consent from both sides must be obtained in writing for another person to be admitted. The name of the third party must be listed on the referral form.
If the Contact Centre Administrator does not have any proof of agreement for a third party to be present then no one but the people named in the referral form will be allowed to stay in the room.
We don't want to meet. Can you help us?
Yes. The contact centre will be more than happy to accommodate parents who do not wish to meet.
On arrival, the first person will be admitted to the contact centre. The second person will be admitted to a waiting room until the child has been settled in the main room, the adult bringing the child will be allowed to leave.
On returning, the adult who brought the child will be asked to wait in the waiting room. The child will be brought out by one of the volunteers. Once the child has left, the person having contact will wait at least five minutes before leaving.
Contact the Contact Centre Administrator for more details.
Do you supervise visits?
NO.
Although there are volunteers within the Centre at all times, they do not supervise visits. Under no circumstances will the volunteers supervise contact.
If
both parties are agreeable a third party may be allowed to sit in the contact centre during contact.
