St. Mary The Virgin, Hamilton

St. Mary’s is keen to develop and encourage support for overseas mission around the world.

Roy and Ann Gordon introduced the work of ABBA, Associato Brasileira Aslan. This is a Christian Rescue House for the street children of Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Children between 7 and 13 years are encouraged not to leave the favelas and live as street children.

We hope to support and build good relationships with our Kenyan friends Elizabeth and Peninah currently worshipping with us and living in Hamilton.

Our current Harvest appeal, and previous Lent appeals are supporting a church building programme in the rural areas and continued support for families, especially children, affected by HIVand Aids

Our Assistant Priest Rev Prof David Jasper is currently the Changyang Chair Professor at Renmin University of China. We are looking forward to his reports about the growing and vibrant Christian community in China.

In July 2005 a group of teenagers fundraised and

visited the project, buying a home, and a VW Combi van. We are currently developing a wider partnership

of support for the Casa Abba Project involving churches across Scotland. In the last year we have sent £3750 to help the ministry of Robert and Silvana Meikle newly refurbished premises in the midst of three favelas.
