St. Mary’s Family Support Project / Circle Lanarkshire In 2004 St. Mary’s began an innovative partnership with the Scottish Family Support charity Circle Scotland and South Lanarkshire Integrated Children’s Services. Over the last five years the project has grown to create 11 family support workers focusing on drug / alcohol addiction in North and South Lanarkshire and prison through care for local men and women. We also enable a social work student study base and family schools liaison work. The work is managed by Anna Flaherty. Please e-mail Anna Flaherty for information. Hamilton Contact Centre The Family Support work takes place in the Church Flat which is an important facility within our premises. 17 volunteers from St. Mary’s, local churches and the community facilitate the Hamilton Contact Centre each Saturday. This enables children to meet their non-resident parent in safe and neutral surroundings. The Contact Centre team is led by Margo Yates and works closely with Relationships Scotland. Please e-mail Margo Yates for information Hamilton Churches Drop-in Centre for the Homeless In 1995 volunteers from several churches in Hamilton created the Drop-in Centre in Beckford St for the Homeless. Warm meals, showers, laundry facilities, clothes and food are available each night of the week. Jill Cunningham from St. Mary’s has managed the Centre and is always willing to welcome new volunteers. Please e-mail Jill Cunningham for information. Hyzone Youth Project Five town centre churches have created a detached youth project in partnership with South Lanarkshire Youth Services. Based at the Universal Connections premises in Woodside Walk, professional youth workers and 15 faith based volunteers create six themes: Creative Zone, Movie Zone, Sussed-Out , Access All Areas, Drop-In, and Education & Residential Trips.
